Hi, I’m Conor, the Senior Editor for Technology Law, Policy & Regulation at SCL Student Bytes.

Who I am

I am originally from Dublin, where I completed an LLB from Dublin Business School, and a B.A. in English Studies from Trinity College Dublin. I’m a Certified Data Protection Officer, and I’m currently completing an LLM in International Commercial Law at UCL.

English and Law have both been impactful on my writing, and I enjoy focusing on topics from GDPR and AI, to Human Rights and Poetry. I have recently written for Cork Online Law Review, American Arbitration Association Dispute Resolution Journal, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, The Journal, Trinity Free Legal Aid Clinic, Lawyers Without Borders, UN Policy Hackathon, and Justis, and have previously edited for groups including Trinity News, TN2, MISC Magazine, and the ELSA International Legal Research Group concluding report.

Recently, I have enjoyed volunteering with the Kensington & Chelsea Citizens Advice Bureau, and the UCL Rare Dementia Legal Advice Clinic. I have also acted as ambassador to Justis and SCL. My work with these organisations resulted in me being nominated as a finalist for the National Accident Helpline Future Legal Mind Awards, 2020. Details of these awards, which return in September 2020, can be found here:

I enjoy presenting my research at conferences and events, which has recently included presenting at Edge Hill University, University of Limerick, Lancaster University, and UCL. I am excited to be chairing my first virtual event, the details of which and a recording can be found here:

What I do

I manage the SCL Editorial team, as well as our contributing writers, who produce content for SCL Student Bytes.

My main roles involve directing the Technology Law, Policy & Regulation content, editing, proofreading, and creating content.

I also work alongside Stacy, our Audio-Visual Lead, and Andrew, the Tech Law Editor, to produce interview content for our amazing podcast, ‘Making Sense of Tech Law’.

I oversee our YouTube Channel, and our vlog-style video content, ‘SCL Student Chats’, the first episode of which you can watch here:

If you would like to become a Contributing Writer, or video creator, for SCL Student Bytes, please contact me at editors@bytes.scl.org, or fill out this form, or head over to our ‘Contribute’ page for more details!

I hope you enjoy meeting the rest of the amazing SCL Student Bytes team over the next few weeks!
