Hi – I’m Chris, Operations Manager at SCL Student Bytes.

Who I am

I’m a law student at the University of Southampton. I’m currently on a placement year at city law firm Simmons & Simmons. I’ve spent the last 3 months as part of our London FinTech team, reporting directly to the sector head. Prior to this, I spent 6 months in the firm’s Innovation & New Business department. In Innovation, I worked on legal products, documentation automation and process improvement. Right now, I work to support the growth and development of our FinTech sector.

I’m interested in legal technology, technology law and website development.

I’ve been involved with the SCL for a while. Between 2017 and 2019, I was SCL Student Ambassador for Southampton. In 2019, I was joint winner of the SCL Student Tech Law Challenge.

In July 2019, I completed Clifford Chance’s SPARK Vacation Scheme – I’ll be heading there after uni to start a Training Contract in September 2022. I’ve also taken part in work experience programmes at Kemp Little, Fenwick Elliott and Vodafone Group Legal.

In July 2020, I’ll be joining legal technology start up BRYTER as a Legal Tech Intern.

What I do

I’m part of the Operations team. We work to support our Editorial team in any way we can. My responsibilities are maintaining the technical element of the website; supporting development of external relationships; advising the Senior Editors; and occasionally producing some content of my own.

Clearly those shoes were far too clean for a festival...

I’m excited for you to meet the rest of the SCL Student Bytes team over the next few weeks.
