Hi! I’m Cecilia, and I’m the Marketing & Communications Manager at SCL Student Bytes.

Who I am

I’m an LLB law student at City, University of London. I worked as the social media manager for the City, University of London Law Society and, in my final year at City, I founded the Legal Awareness Society to create opportunities for students to improve their commercial awareness. I enjoyed creating and promoting digital marketing material via social media in both of these roles, and I look forward to using the same skills for SCL Student Bytes. Since starting my degree, I have also spent time volunteering with the legal clinics, The Unity Project and Advocate, as well as the charity, Future Frontiers.

My interest in the technology sector started around 2017, as I came to appreciate how new technologies are evolving industry - particularly the legal profession. Since then, I have attended a variety of technology events, from FinTech to HealthTech, with the view to gaining a better understanding of these fields. Networking in the LegalTech space led to the memorable opportunity to offer a student perspective on the subject as a panellist at an event held by the Law Society. I have recently taken an introductory course in front-end computer programming, and I aspire to keep learning about both the practical and theoretical sides of the tech sector.

I intend to study an LLM at LSE this September and to pursue a career in commercial law.

What I do

My role sits within the Operations team. Our role is to support the Editorial team in any way we can. My responsibilities include managing our external partnerships; growing our brand image; monitoring our mailbox; and (diametrically opposed to my interest in tech, I’m a self-diagnosed bookworm, so) I will be sure to contribute some techy book recommendations!

I’m excited for you to meet the rest of the SCL Student Bytes team over the next few weeks.
